Rescued Pit Bull Gets Her Own Maternity Photo Shoot And She's Gorgeous

Pit bulls get a bad rap and like any reputation, it's mostly bunk. Do pitties attack more humans than other breeds? No, but they're certainly featured on the news more when they do.

Thankfully, their reputation is starting to be corrected and more and more people are coming to love the adorable goofs.

And viral stories like this one of a pittie mama named Pickles and her incredible maternity photo shoot go a long way towards proving how wonderful these doggos can be.

Mama Pickles was found wandering the streets, lost and very pregnant.

Sadly, though her owners were found, they didn't want her and Pickles ended up at a shelter.

But shelters are rarely equipped to properly help pregnant dogs, which is where Pits and Giggles Rescue came in.

The rescue's mission is to save pregnant dogs from overburdened shelters, giving them medical care and a safe place to give birth.

After the babies are weaned, mama is spayed and forever homes are found for everyone.

For each adopted mom, they sponsor the spaying of another female dog.

They even ensure that all the babies are spayed and neutered before their final adoption. It's really amazing.

One of the rescue's volunteers is Lauren Casteen Sykes, who helps foster dogs from the rescue, and has even adopted from it.

But Lauren is also a photographer and runs Enchanted Hills Photography. She uses her skills to photograph the rescue's mamas and puppies, helping them find forever homes.

When Mama Pickles arrived, a maternity shoot simply had to happen, and I think we all agree that she made an incredible model.

Though, according to Lauren, she wasn't the calmest of models and it took a fast shutter button to catch her when she wasn't moving.

Only a few days later, Pickles was the proud mama of eight little girls, and Lauren got her camera out again.

OMG, look at them! And Mama Pickles looks so proud!

For now, she and her babies will be taken care of by the rescue, but in a couple of months they'll be ready for new homes.

And once she's been spayed, Pickles will never be forced into breeding again.

"This girly was clearly used repeatedly for breeding," Lauren told The Dodo, "and we're excited to make sure this is her very last litter."
