Turns Out That Barbie Has A Last Name, And Twitter Is Shook

I'm pretty confident when I say that everybody knows who Barbie is. Even if you didn't grow up actually playing with the dolls, the brand has been one of the most controversial topics for decades now.

Fans just learned that Barbie apparently has a last name, and just when we thought we knew everything, we were hit with this news.

I'll admit that I grew up never really playing with Barbies.

I had those (now very vintage) Fisher-Price dolls.

I spent my days setting up the doll houses with all the furniture and comparing my growing collection to my friends'.

Anyway, that doesn't mean that I didn't know who Barbie was. Everybody knows who she is!

All my friends had Barbies, so I knew what was going on between her and Ken.

She also had a bunch of siblings and cousins.

Anyway, what I was blissfully unaware of was the fact that she has a last name.

I never really thought much of it.

I figured she was like Cher or Rihanna or Madonna and chose not to be associated with her last name.

But thinking that was a big mistake, because the other day, Barbie's Twitter account shared a tweet that would change the course of history.

And when I say that, I mean my history because I feel like these last 26 years have been one giant lie.

"Happy #SiblingsDay, from the Roberts sisters!" they tweeted.

And that's the moment we learned that Barbie's last names was Roberts.

Well, according to Wikipedia, Barbie's full name is actually Barbara Millicent Roberts. So there's that.

Of course, Twitter had a complete and total meltdown.

And I can't say I blame them.

I mean, I feel like I've been lied to, even though nothing was being hidden from me, you know?

And honestly, same. I just have so many emotions happening right now.

I don't know what to do.

But of course, not everybody was as clueless as me.

Apparently, there were also some people on Twitter who "knew the whole time" what Barbie's last name was.

And they can't just be cool about it.

I've never once needed to know the square root of anything, but knowing Barbie's last name is valuable knowledge!

What if I went to a trivia night and that was one of the questions? Then what?!

I promised myself I'd never be fooled by toys again, so I did some digging.

And I discovered that Ken's full name is Kenneth Carson.

I also learned that in 2004, Ken and Barbie split up, but they would "remain friends." And on Valentine's Day in 2011, they got back together.

I'm telling you guys, I can't make this stuff up.

I also learned that Barbie's parents are George and Margaret Roberts, and she has over 40 pets.

Oh, and she dated Blaine the Australian surfer during her split from Ken.

Anyway, finding out that Barbie has a full name has blown my mind, and I feel mentally exhausted.
