Well, folks, I have a very important announcement to make: After six years, Amanda Bynes has officially made her long-awaited return back to Instagram, and fans are confused.
Well, folks, I have a very important announcement to make: After six years, Amanda Bynes has officially made her long-awaited return back to Instagram, and fans are confused.
But let's just recap on why she abandoned social media in the first place.
In hindsight, things started to go downhill for her in 2010 when she pulled out of the movie Hall Pass well into filming, announced that she was retiring from acting on Twitter, and then un-announced that she was retiring from acting — deleting her original tweet.
She was also tweeting things like, "Barack Obama and Michelle Obama are ugly!"
That was followed by a parade of threats to sue Perez Hilton and popular publications such as US Weekly and In Touch.
Drake told XXL, "I don't even know who is doing that or what's that about. If that is her, I guess it's a little weird and disturbing."
Amanda said, "I actually wasn't being insincere. I was serious, but I was also on drugs. So that was my way of saying like, 'Let's do this, man.' But I was on drugs and trying to be hilarious."
She tweeted to Rihanna, saying: “Chris brown beat you because you’re not pretty enough” and that she “almost named [her] new dog Rihanna.”
“Looking forward to a long and wonderful career as a singer/rapper!”
"I'm really ashamed and embarrassed with the things I said. I can't turn back time but if I could, I would," she said.
"It makes me feel so horrible and sick to my stomach and sad. Everything I worked my whole life to achieve, I kind of ruined it all through Twitter. It's definitely not Twitter's fault — it's my own fault."
She announced her return to Instagram on her Twitter — which she has hardly used at all in the last six years.
Some fans were concerned about her decision to dye her hair pink.
Probably because the last time Amanda was doing funky things to her hair, it was because she was going through it.
Remember her turquoise wig phase? Exactly.
Social media is a scary place. Anything can happen.
What a time to be alive.
We are about to witness a whole lot of strange.
She definitely brings a lot of personality back into our timelines.
Here's hoping she's ready to take on the world of fashion!
It reminds me of my younger days being obsessed with scene queens — and it looks like Amanda's right there with me. Sure, things didn't go great for her the last time she dyed her hair, but I think she looks great!
Like this one, which she simply captioned, "Lol." Amanda really is just like any fresh college grad: sharing memes about being sad on Instagram is pretty much par for the course.
Into nature and nature photography? You'll love this "dang, massive spiderweb!" she shared to her page. To be fair, it is a pretty massive spiderweb.
That makes sense — she did just graduate from a fashion program, after all. She shared this heel/sock combo with the caption, "omg obsessed with this look."
Amanda also shared this pre-pink shot of herself at the tattoo studio, where she also tagged her artists, @tattoosbyspooky. No word yet on what ink she got, but I'm sure we'll see it soon.
Now that Amanda's in a healthier place in her life, I'm pretty pumped to get to see updates about what she's working on.
Are you glad to see her back? Or do you think she should keep taking time off?
