Angelina Jolie Got Pretty Honest About Parenting Teenagers

In a recent interview with Hello!, Angelina Jolie opened up about what it's really like raising four teenagers and two preteens, and her answer may surprise you!

Anyone that was ever a teenager before knows that it's not a good time for anybody involved.

Your body is changing — your hormones are all over the place and so is your acne, you're moody, and most of all you're angry at your parents at all times for literally no reason.

I'd like to give a small shout out to my mom for dealing with my attitude problem between the ages of 13-18. You're the real MVP.

Anyways, you get where I'm going with this.

Being a teenager is a nightmare for the teen and anyone closely associated with the teen, especially their parents.

So, you might be surprised to find out that Angelina Jolie, who is currently raising two preteens and four teens, is actually having an okay time.

Actually, she's having a more than okay time.

She's enjoying it.

Maddox is 18, Pax is 15, Zahara is 14, Shiloh is 13, and the twins, Knox and Vivienne are 11.

That is a lot of changing hormones for one household.

Angelina opened up in an interview with Hello, explaining how she can now relate to her children in a whole new way.

"When your children are little you feel more 'mommy.'" she began.

"When they are teenagers, you start to remember yourself as a teenager," she continued.

"You see them going to punk clubs, and you wonder why you can't go. I'm in this fun moment where I’m rediscovering myself."

Despite being older, Angelina is still preaching the same virtues to them that she hopes they can continue to apply to their lives.

"kindness—to others and themselves," she said.

"It's important to be humble — know the freedoms you have and what you've been blessed with".

"And make sure you help others," she went on.

"And always remember your place — we’re all human and very flawed."

"We're tiny pieces in a much bigger world," she added.

Okay. Angelina is wise AF. Who knew!

There's no doubt her children are kind.

"On Mother's Day my children make me breakfast and pick me flowers – they treat me like a lady," she said.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight last month, she shed some more light on how gentle her children are with each other.

"You know that your kids love each other and you see the way they all – without any kind of prompting or pushing – give each other notes, hug each other, take care of each other, support each other".

"Then you feel like they're going to be okay and they're always going to have each other."

Meanwhile, I would probably physically fight my brother for borrowing my phone charger without asking. But okay.

"We need to prepare the next generation because there’s so much happening in the world — they’re up against it."

"We're counting on our children so we must give them the right knowledge and support."

"As they grow up, I find my children are strong individuals but still open-minded," she said.

"I try to lead by example and be kind and gracious, as my mother was—and loving and tolerant. But when there's a fight that needs to be had, get in there."

Angelina then explained that her goal is to share that advice with the rest of the world as well.
