13+ Times Real Life Didn't Act The Way You'd Expect

The world is full of surprises. I mean, do you remember where you were when it was announced that James Corden would be taking over from Craig Ferguson on the Late Late Show?

Fortunately, however, not all surprises are terrible. Some, in fact, are quite amazing, and the internet loves sharing those moments that make you think, "What was in that vegan salad I had for lunch?" So, here I have gathered together 13+ times that real life didn't act the way you expected it to!

"This rainbow coming out of our dumpster."

Reddit | NuWuX

I think if there was ever a picture I would use to describe me, it's a rainbow heading straight into a dumpster.

"This is one image. The items in it are arranged to make an illusion"

Reddit | LoganBryantAlex

You're welcome for the headache that this picture is probably giving you.

*Inception Music Starts Playing

Reddit | _Ineption

Just look how tiny the little segments are! Either that, or that person has absolutely massive hands!

"Golden retriever with rare coat color mutation"

Reddit | jackmayfield16

This type of mutation is actually called a pigmented somatic cell mutation. He looks like he doesn't let it get him down though, and why would he?

"I dropped a skittle in a glass of water and the S floated to the top"

Reddit | Zeusch

This is perhaps the most unnecessarily fascinating thing that I have ever found on the internet. Never again will I need to see this, or necessarily remember it; and yet, at this moment in time I am completely in awe of this. The reason this happens is apparently due to the fact that the letters do not dissolve in water, however, the glue with which they are attached does.

"The perfect symmetry of this plant"

Reddit | japsanityxc

Now that is some organically wholesome content! I feel like its trying to draw me slowly in.

"Fan looks like it’s missing a blade"

Reddit | cttaft

And yes, if you immediately thought, "Well, it is missing a blade!" then don't worry, I did too. If you zoom in and look at the absence of pattern in the ceiling effect, as well as the shadow which is ratting it out, then you'll see that there actually is a blade there.

"Hyperrealist art installation of ocean waves"

Reddit | DejectedSoul

Haruka Kojin, Kenji Minamigawa, and Hirofumi Masui were the creators behind this instillation which is on display at Tokyo's Mori Art Museum.

"The way the ice froze on my car this morning"

Reddit | darkaotik

My nan had wallpaper that looked just like that when I was growing up!

The House Split Between Countries

Reddit | Marambal17

According to the explanation for this house, "This house lies at the exact border between Belgium and Netherlands, so if you live there you technically live in two countries. Even the door is split!"

I can only imagine that this must be a nightmare for tax purposes.

Cow Quadruplets

Reddit | GytisG8

There is apparently only a 1 in 180 million chance that a cow has quadruplets. These four were named Eeny, Meeny, Miny, and Moo.

It's udderly unbelievable...

"The shadow left the snow on the roof untouched"

Reddit | somewhat-damaged

Seeing this just reminds me that its already only 107 days until Christmas. How is that even possible? It feels like only ten minutes ago that I was sweating out excess turkey and filling my arteries with fatty goodness, and it's nearly that time again.

"The corrosion on this water tap looks like a map"

Reddit | Luke-Skywalk

I refuse to beleive that this doesn't lead to something, or somewhere. I've seen the Goonies, I know that there's treasure out there! Reveal your secrets to me tap!

"This building in Vancouver, BC"

Reddit | vVurve

As someone who isn't great with heights, I can't think of anything more unsettling than going to a party in one of those flats. If only I had connections with people who actually lived in flats like that.

"I saw a lenticular cloud over a cumulus cloud that made it look like a helicopter"

Reddit | Zulu_x

I personally think it looks like Woody the Woodpecker getting caught in the rain but a helicopter is fine too I guess.

"The true reason for the shape of Pringles"

Reddit | Samcraft1999

Now, I can often find ways to procrastinate, but this is something else. Who knew that this was even possible?

"This is what an oasis in Libya looks like"

Reddit | TacoPvP

If I was lost in the desert and came across that, I'd definitely thing it was a mirage! It looks like a glitch in the Sims.

"Overhead shot of Burning Man 2019 looks like a galaxy"

Reddit | ADarkcid

I think this perfectly sums up Burning Man. It looks quite cool from a distance, but get any closer and you'll see its just social-media glitterati posing for images while not really having a good time.

Magic waves.

There's an island in the Maldives where the water glows Vaadhoo Island is home to only about 500 people, but it's a big tourist destination due to the bioluminescent organisms that live in the waves.

Hummingbird Plant

Reddit | Stewie-kills-peter

Not everything native to Australia is terrifying. Take the green birdflower, which has gone viral because the leaves look uncannily like hummingbirds.

Tiny Eggplants?

Reddit | ASM1420

Nope. These are just oddly elongated grapes. Apparently, they were packaged and sold as "moon grapes" which to me just seems like a clever way to sell an imperfect harvest.

New Perspective.

Reddit | astar88

You'd be forgiven for thinking this is a boring photo of a bunch of spotlights, and it's not totally off the mark.

However, these spotlights are special. These are the ones that shine as part of the 9/11 memorial.

Perfect Halo

Reddit | souji5okita

This halo appeared during Japan's Harvest Moon Festival, which is really perfect.

Defying Gravity

Reddit | Ferdaferd

This looks like a Photoshop mistake, but it's real. The rest of the pole burned away in a fire.

Found her!

Reddit | Waifer2016

This is the sort of thing you can't make up.

Imagine not realizing that you were in a search party looking for yourself?

"Setting sun looks unreal due to the haze..."

Reddit | hoplias

It's so eerie and beautiful. And kind of feels five seconds away from the apocalypse.

Sunset On Mars

Reddit | humanatearth

We know sunsets as bursts of red and orange, but on Mars the way the light scatters results in a cool blue sunset over the red planet.

"My black cat looks like my white cat’s shadow"

Reddit | JoshuaForLong

Yeah, you read that right. There are two cats in that picture, but the black cat looks like a perfect, dark shadow of the white cat.

"My mom found this skull with a chrysalis inside the eye socket"

Reddit | aglazeddonut

This is super cool and unnerving. I kind of want them to go out and sneak a glow stick in behind to make the eye glow around the chrysalis "iris".

Fish Tanks

Reddit | elondrakdrypare

Credit to Wildebeast1 for that perfect title pun.

These tanks are found off the coast of Jordan and were left as part of an art exhibition/tourist attraction. Eventually, they'll be taken over by coral and other organisms.

Four seasons, one window.

Reddit | gunslayerjj

This isn't an editted photo. It's simply that the way the bay window is sectioned matches perfectly with the landscape outside, where fall is just beginning to appear.

Viking Crosswalk

Reddit | elondrakdrypare

In certain tourist areas of Aarhus, Denmark, the classic WALK guy is replaced by a viking on crosswalk lights.

It's adorable, but kind of a mixed message. The shield and axe don't really say "come, walk this way" to me.

List Item #35

"An interesting glitch my phone had"

Reddit | Khadnesar

This is a pretty neat glitch, but due to the subject and atmosphere, it kind of feels like a creepy screenshot from the videotape in The Ring.

Not A Glitch

Reddit | flammableisfun

Well, not technically. This is actually a panoramic photo taken while the color-changing light bulb was doing its thing.

"I found a green bee today"

Imgur | DickieJohnson

It's a sweat bee! These friendly pollinators sometimes look like your classic yellow and black bee, but can also come in green, blue, or even red.

They're attracted to sweat, but won't sting unless you try to swat them. Thankfully, their sting is known to be one of the least painful of any insect.

"Huge rat by the sidewalk"

Reddit | prizmaticanimals

Yeah, no thanks.

I'll take my giant, pear-throwing squirrels over this any day.

"Customer came in and let me take a picture of her hands that had 6 fingers on each"

Reddit | Designer_Drugz

According to the person who posted the photo, the customer's extra fingers worked perfectly well as well. It must be a nightmare for her to buy gloves.

Termite Cathedral

Reddit | Bototoy87

It turns out that termites aren't just good at destroying architecture, but can also make impressive buildings of their own.

As long as they stay away from my house, they can do whatever they want.

Refraction

Reddit

I mean, I hope it is refraction causing that, otherwise that fella is gonna need one hell of a good chiropractor.
