Katie Couric Reveals That 'Jeopardy!' Is Looking For Someone To 'Carry On' Alex's Legacy

I get stressed out just watching an episode of Jeopardy! so I can't imagine actually appearing on it, or worse — hosting it! Alex Trebek did such an outstanding job for so many years, which is why it will be a struggle to replace him!

Now, Katie Couric is reflecting on her time as a guest host on the popular show.

As we all know, *Jeopardy!* was previously hosted by Alex Trebek for an outstanding 37 seasons.

Not only was Alex fantastic at the hosting gig, which he held from 1984 until his passing in 2020, but he was an integral part of the experince. He became a familiar and friendly face in homes across the country five nights a week.

Needless to say, filling his shoes will be no easy task!

Since Alex's passing, the show has rotated through a series of guest hosts, including journalist Katie Couric.

She quickly became a fan favorite and the first woman to ever host the show!

Now, Katie is reflecting on her stint as a *Jeopardy!* host in a new interview with Ellen.

When asked how she felt about being the first female host, Katie said: "I think they were looking for people to just really carry on [Alex Trebek’s] legacy and to try and fill in while they find a permanent replacement."

"They were so generous and nice they matched what the winners won and made a huge donation to Stand Up to Cancer, which I founded with some other women."

That's amazing!

She went on to add that hosting was a stressful task!

"It was incredibly meaningful for me to have that opportunity. Really fun and very nerve-racking, I was totally pitted out, Ellen. It was stressful."

We think Katie did a great job! What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
