Danielle Brooks, most well-known for her iconic role as Taystee on Orange is the New Black, is no stranger to bullying, whether it's for her size or her skin tone. In a recent interview with Shape, Danielle gave a tearful explanation of why it's so important to her.

Danielle got emotional when discussing being the cover model on a magazine.

"This is a big deal because I feel like the universe, the way the world works, it has built these invisible bullets to bully us in telling us who we’re supposed to be and what we’re supposed to look like," she said.
Danielle, who recently announced her first pregnancy, explained that representation is even more important now that she's about to have a child.

"Now that I am about to be a mother, it means even more to make sure that this human being that I’m going to bring in to the world knows that they are enough when they’re hit with all these bullets coming at them," she said tearfully.

"When one chapter ends, another begins," she wrote in her caption, referencing the final season of OITNB. "Super excited to share with you my new beginning, I'M PREGNANT."
