Sarah Hyland Fired Back After Being Dragged For Showing Off Engagement Ring

Sarah Hyland truly can't do anything without being criticized.

If it's not her health, it's her body—or even her hair—that people get fired up about. Luckily (and sadly), she's so practiced at clapbacks that she can shut people down very quickly.

After attempting to celebrate a happy moment in her life, fans decided to criticize her about her engagement. Here's what she had to say about that.

Sarah Hyland has her share of haters.

Why? I wish I knew. Even though she's a pretty wholesome person, people tend to leave her some nasty comments on her Instagram.

Unfortunately, Sarah is one of those celebrities that actually reads her comments.

She genuinely can't post a single thing without receiving nasty comments.

Celebrities do tend to get hateful comments, but that doesn't mean that it's okay. There's no reason for people to be as cruel as they are.

For example, one of the top comments on this picture? The word "yuck."

Cheeky Coachella picture? I don't think so.

She posted this throwback picture of her at Coachella, and one of the comments got straight-up sexist:

"Every time I think of Coachella, I think of all the girls who now have stds"

Okay, that seems relevant and not at all judgemental.

She can't have [checks notes] hair.

I understand that maybe the question was well-meaning, but it's pretty clear she's been asked this over and over.

It's also a weird thing to ask, considering her Instagram is full of pictures of her with her natural, curly hair.

Her bare back isn't off-limits, either.

Why are people so weird?

This shot she posted garnered lots of love, but lots of controversy, as well. One person randomly commented: "If u look closely u can see the hair on her back[.]"

First of all, why were you looking that closely, and second of all...no, you so cannot.

What won't people get offended at?

Sarah posted a picture of herself on a boat, so of course that warranted this comment:

"Another insecure celebrity looking for attention and to feel sorry for herm ha"

I mean, maybe check your spelling before you try to roast people, dude.

Sarah recently got engaged!

Her boyfriend, Wells Adams, popped the question while they were on vacation.

Believe it or not, but Wells is actually a former The Bachelorette contestant. He lost out on the season, but he clearly hit it big when he met Sarah.

He secretly recorded their whole engagement.

How cute is this?

Wells had a drone fly over them to record him proposing. He'd already established that he wanted the drone for other reasons, so Sarah had no reason to believe he would be proposing.

Her face is so cute!

They took a ton of cute engagement photos.

Wells clearly had a photographer ready, because the photos of them after their engagement are to die for.

They both just look so happy. They're genuinely radiating joy, and that's so precious in this day and age!

Sarah was clearly very excited about her ring.

She posted two videos showing off her ring. In them both, she and Wells keep commenting on how bright the sun is.

The only thing brighter than the sun is that rock.

Some commenters were not.

Amid a ton of congratulations and well-wishes, one person decided to pop off and insult Sarah.

In a deleted comment, someone wrote: "Most obnoxious engaged dip[expletive] award goes to you!!!"

People are the worst.

Sarah had something to say about that.

Shoutout to @commentsbycelebs for catching the comment before it was deleted.

Sarah clapped back in the best possible fashion: by agreeing via sarcasm. I love and stan this method of retort, because it usually leaves the other person wondering what to say next. Go, queen.

Thankfully, her fans had her back.

Everyone jumped to her defence. Not only because they admire her, but because it's such bad form to insult someone for celebrating their own engagement!

"Wow the devil is real." That is...such a great comment.

This comment is so great.

Instagram | @sarahhyland

"You have your entire life to be a jerk, how about you take today off!"

OMG. I'm genuinely going to borrow this for the next time I'm arguing with someone online.

The other comments were all supportive.

Iceberg ahead? Yeah, that fits.

So many comments were cute and clever like this one, which more than make up for the ones full of negativity. It's what Sarah truly deserves!
