A Model From Miley Cyrus' Latest Music Video Is Being Fat-Shamed By Fans

Miley Cyrus recently released the music video for her anthem of empowerment "Mother's Daughter," and if you haven't seen it yet, drop everything you're doing and watch it now.

It's shocking, it's explicit, it's nasty, it's inclusive, it's powerful — it's honestly everything.

Of course, as they say, all good things come to and end, especially in the age of social media. Fans are unfortunately taking to social media to fat-shame a model featured in the music video, Angelina Duplisea.

Miley Cyrus shows that she still can't be tamed in the powerful music video for her latest single 'Mother's Daughter.'

Both the song and music video have been getting a lot of praise from listeners and critics.

The song is an anthem of empowerment, for "doing you," and doing it for yourself — it's about not conforming to societal standards.

She begins the music video right off the bat with the text, "every woman is a riot," a popular feminist slogan.

Throughout the music video, Miley Cyrus features celebrities and activists to highlight current political challenges and celebrates marginalized and oppressed groups.

She makes a nod to female empowerment, showing Little Miss Flint, MAri Copeny, in a superhero costume, as well as a mother breastfeeding her child.

She also celebrates gender equality.

She features trans model Casil McArthur, disabled, trans, and black model Aaron Philip, and skateboarder Lacey Baker, to name a few.

Of course, with praise, comes backlash.

Some of her overt messages have created controversy.

She received criticism for the text in the music video that reads "virginity is a social construct."

Many people did not agree with her bold statement and were quick to call her out for being insensitive and demeaning.

But there was another major criticism.

It had to do with one particular model featured in the music video.

About 30 seconds into the music video, the text "You Are F*** Beautiful" flashes across the screen and then cuts to model Angelina Duplisea.

She looks like she is straight out of a Victorian painting, posed like a piece of art on a vintage chaise lounge chair.

Angelina is a fearless model who is confidently comfortable in her skin and is not afraid to flaunt and celebrate it.

She often poses nude or in lingerie and shows how the body is art.

Because of her fearlessness, she was perfect for Miley's music video.

She absolutely defies societal standards in many ways.

Miley gave Angelina a shoutout on Instagram and Twitter, and it didn't take long for fans to slam the singer for promoting obesity.

Miley's fans began to fat-shame Angelina.

Fans felt that the singer was promoting an unhealthy lifestyle.

People were very harsh and, honestly, straight up bullying Angelina.

One Twitter user boldly stated, "Obesity is not beautiful."

One user compared it to promoting smoking cigarettes.

"I'm sorry but obesity is not a body type," they continued.

Many people played doctor in the comments.

Google is the real disease.

However, not all of the comments were negative and many were positive and supportive.

Many people still made sure to praise the overall message of the music video.

Fans were quick to point out that one's body size and their health do not necessarily correlate.

It seems that many viewers were missing the point about Miley's decision to empower people of all body types.

People also pointed out the potential contradiction coming from some of the commenters.

Health definitely doesn't correlate to how one physically looks.

Others were sure to call out those who were being fatphobic.

This person is calling out the ignorance and hypocrisy of those who commented negatively.

Angelina took to her own Instagram page to write a long message as an opportunity to educate fans.

One of her most poignant statements? "Fat acceptance is based on the notion that all fat people, regardless of health, deserve respect."

Amen to that.
