Alright, people, we're talking about The Masked Singer today. What surprises will be held behind this mask of a first segment?
It seems that only reading on will tell.
Alright, people, we're talking about The Masked Singer today. What surprises will be held behind this mask of a first segment?
It seems that only reading on will tell.
How long have we been doing this kind of show?
Listen, I'm a no good, ungrateful, hippy-dippy dolphin loving millennial, so my memory only goes back so far.
Ah, and those were the good old days, too.
Remember William Hung and all his Ricky Martin goodness? Can't beat that kind of TV.
There's America's Got Talent, The Voice, The X Factor, and more.
It seems that Hollywood has really capitalized on this whole "amateur singer" trend that started in the early 2000s.
There are all the gimmicks you have to throw in so it's not just a carbon copy of American Idol.
The spinning chairs from The Voice, the other talents from any Got Talent show...
Where the judges don't see your face, they just judge you based on your singing.
Yes, it seems they've taken the total anonymity concept and ran with it.
The contestants on this show aren't revealed until the very end.
A show where amateur singers put on some wacky costumes and sing for judges.
If the judges like you and you move on, you take off your mask. You're either an amateur or a celebrity.
Everyone loved the pageantry mixed with the American Idol style talent show.
But you know, who wouldn't? It sounds like a time and a half.
That it seems The Masked Singer is gearing up for a second season. Or should I say masking up!
No, I shouldn't, but I did anyway. Let's just move on, shall we?
Well, I think the most important aspect of The Masked Singer is, well, the masks.
The bigger and wackier the mask, the bigger the ratings for the show. Or at least I'm pretty sure that's how Hollywood works.
The biggest challenge for costume designer Marina Toybina was to make sure that the costumes were still beautiful.
But for the second season, they have to make sure that they offer more visibility.
Because when you're doing a show in front of all those people, you want to put on a show.
And that's hard when you're wearing a full costume.
Which is very fair.
It takes a lot of time, patience, and dedication to put any of these costumes together. Besides, fashion IS art.
The costume designer said that this year, there's going to be a heck of a lot more variety.
So if you weren't sure whether season 2 would live up to season 1, it looks like it will be even better!
Are you excited to see all the new set pieces on The Masked Singer? Or are you sick of this whole music and talent show format?
