Meghan Markle has been no stranger to controversy since joining The Royal Family by marrying Prince Harry. She's been the subject of racist abuse while her husband has been accused of being a "race traitor."
Knowing all this, you'd think the BBC would be very careful with how they portray the Duchess of Sussex. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case.
The caricature of Meghan not only darkened her skin tone dramatically, but also spoke incredibly crudely, which has some people accusing the show of trying to perpetuate negative stereotypes about black women.
When asked if she lets Kate Middleton borrow her hairbrush, the cartoon version of Meghan responded, "I say no because that's gross and then I leave my room and come back and I can tell she's used my hairbrush anyway because it's covered in skanky hair that's going grey and I say, 'Stay the [expletive] out of my trailer or I'll cut you, Kate.'"
People sent in and encouraged others to send in their complaints to the BBC.
The show defended themselves by claiming that, ""Anybody who has seen anything of Meghan Markle in public will know that she seems incredibly agreeable and friendly, always smiling," so their aggressive caricature was meant to be in total opposition.
Many people believe the BBC has a responsibility to watch how their portrayals of Meghan may play into racist stereotypes about angry black women and feel that this type of media treatment is just another in a long line of disrespect towards the Duchess.
