Today we're going to talk about Bill & Ted's third movie, people.
One of the quintessential movies of the 80s, it's moments like these where I really love my job.
You know this movie. Heck, you'd be hard pressed to find someone who doesn't.
It's a staple in most people's best comedies of all time list, so how could you miss it.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot about that excellent sequel.
Yes, it seems that Bill & Ted is no stranger to critical acclaim. At least, comedic critical acclaim.
Now they're getting a sequel... or a threequel...
Listen, I don't know the technical term for it or anything but I know that it's the third movie in the series.
Not just because it's the third movie and by all rights, it should be different, but because the stars Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter have put on a couple of years since the movie came out.
For starters, Alex Winter has gone on to do a bunch of Broadway shows.
Plus, he's been directing a whole bunch too, including some skits for Jimmy Kimmel's TV Show.
John Wick himself! A
nd I mean he's done a movie or two in between Bill And Ted's Bogus Journey and John Wick. A little known series known as The Matrix springs to mind...
Because the two of them have aged, their characters must age as well.
They've got to do different things, maybe act a little differently, but most of all...
Most importantly, they're going to have daughters.
That's right, the slackers who don't have a care in the world now have to care for two real live human beings. Woah.
Named Billie, she is played by Brigette Lundy-Paine.
She's an American actress that's been in such things as the Netflix series Atypical and the drama film The Glass Castle. Sounds and looks promising.
She is played by Samara Weaving, shes' an Australian actress and model.
She's cut her teeth on the old acting block too, she was in the BBC show Out of the Blue.
Is as excited as we are. He made a statement that said:
"We are so thrilled to have this funny and unique pair join the Bill and Ted team".
He had this to say in response to the two of them signing on:
“When we saw Samara and Brigette together, it was like deja vu. It was exactly the way we felt when we first saw Keanu and Alex."
Needless to say.
They love the fact that they named their female daughters after each other too, which I think is awesome too. Thea is a bit of a stretch though...
And you know what, I do too. I retract my previous statement about Thea being a bit of a stretch.
It's totally something those wacky boys would do, even if it was a stretch.
Do you think this new dynamic is going to be good for ol' Bill and Ted?
Or do you think this whole reboot thing is just another Hollywood cash grab... you cynic.
