Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has often fallen under fire for his extremist right-wing remarks. Accounts such as his have been banned from all of Facebook's platforms as of today.

Other public figures such as Louis Farrakhan and Milo Yiannopoulous have also been banned.

Farrakhan's recent anti-Semetic statements place him and other figures in violation of Facebook hate speech rules.

"We've always banned individuals or organisations that promote or engage in violence and hate, regardless of ideology," the statement reads.

Facebook representatives have made it clear that they have purged hate-oriented accounts regardless of political ideology.

"The process for evaluating potential violators is extensive and it is what led us to our decision to remove these accounts today."
