Women Are Fighting Against The Stigma Of Body Hair By Sharing 'Armpit Hair Selfies'

For some reason, there are different standards applied to women when it comes to beauty. One of those standards revolves around body hair. Women are expected to shave their legs and armpits and anything less is considered unpleasant.

But these women are standing up and speaking out against these stereotypes about armpit hair through their beautiful social media posts.

Showing off her natural side.

This woman has learned to embrace her natural state of being by going makeup-free and not removing her body hair. Good for her! You have to do what's right for you.

Using art to fight against the haters.

An artist's rendition went viral in this artistic response to criticism: "This is about more than pit hair: It’s about empowering women to celebrate their bodies, in whatever ways they choose."

Shaving can be very harmful for some women.

For some people with conditions such as fibromyalgia, shaving can be painful. So instead of doing what's aesthetically pleasing, they do what feels good to them.

Even trendsetters like Willow Smith are embracing their body hair.

Kudos to Willow Smith for speaking her mind about the shaving controversy by simply saying, “I’m going to be like my ancestors and just do what I need to do.”

Sometimes letting it go can be a freeing experience, like it has been for this fun-loving lady.

Take a note from her book of life and try it out.

Growing armpit hair can scare some people who worry about how it will affect their hygiene.

But when you find the right deodorant, it can make a world of difference. So don't be scared anymore. This lady isn't.

And this Instagrammer puts it very simply and gets right to the point: "There's nothing wrong with not shaving."

Everyone is beautiful in their own way and we should celebrate that.

Whether you agree or disagree with the women's armpit hair movement, this statement should give you something to think about.

After all, we're all human, whether we're women, men, or non-binary.

Nike recently featured a model showing some armpit hair and created a heated conversation with some calling it "disgusting."

What do you think? Did they go too far? Seeing women with armpit hair might become more common in ads in the coming years.

Loving the confidence here!

Not only is this woman embracing her armpit hair, she even dyed it a cool shade of purple. Way to rock your own style!

Newsflash: Women have hair on their armpits, just like men.

So why do we have to shave if men don't? Why is there such a double standard? Please explain!

Is the expectation of women removing their body hair just a marketing ploy?

It seems to sell a lot of expensive razors, that's for sure. What's your take on it?

Did you know a long time ago armpit hair was considered sexy?

It all changed in the '70s and continued until now. Not all change is always a positive change.

Why do you shave your armpit hair?

One bold Instagrammer asked this: "Are you doing this because you genuinely enjoy it or are you doing it because you are worried about what others would think?" It's not a question I've ever asked myself, personally.
