Unibrow Model Says She Receives Death Threats Over Bushy Brows

The modelling game is pretty fierce these days, and with social media as a tool to springboard potential new fashion killa's, competition is only getting stronger.

That's why new-age models have to figure out their own niche looks to stand out from the crowd and truly be one of a kind.

For some, that means embracing their body type and flaunting what they've got.

Ashley Graham rose to notoriety as the first "plus-sized" model to grace the cover of Sports Illustrated, and has since gone on to walk iconic fashion shows for brands that have historically never considered bigger women.

Others like Slick Woods have garnered attention with their unconventional characteristics.

Short hair and a gap in her teeth, Slick has smashed expectations with her features in Rihana's Fenty Beauty and Miu Miu, among others.

But for 22-year-old model Sophia Hadjipanteli, the world was captivated by her beautiful, bushy eyebrows.

And with that captivation came a criticism she never expected to receive. Sophia appeared on Good Morning Britain to discuss the unexpected controversy surrounding her face.

She shocked the show hosts when she told them, "I get a lot of death threats."

Piers then asked, "People literally threaten to kill you? Because of your eyebrows? I find that absolutely disgusting."

Sophia challenged Piers comments with an insightful, and important question.

"It's disgusting, but then in a way, you think 'how is it that something, somewhere, someone has told this person that it is so unacceptable to look the way I do, that it infuriates them to the point where they have to threaten my life?'"

She focused in on societal pressures that influence how we perceive beauty, and explained how that rigidity is to blame.

"I think that really just has to do with this ongoing conversation that we are being brought up in a society that really, not only favorites, but encourages people to go down one road."

When asked if she reports the death threats on her social media accounts, she explained that she doesn't go looking for them

"I try not to read a lot of them, a lot of people tell me when I get them so obviously I don't really have the patience to go through and read every person's comments," she said.

Overall, though, it looks like she's got a good system in place to keep her self-esteem afloat.

"It's a bit of a shame when you want to read the nice ones, to have to go through all the mean ones, but it's worth it I think."

Sophia seems to have the brains, the beauty and the brows to get her through the tough modelling scene!
