Gucci Is Being Slammed For Selling $800 'Dirty' Sneakers

At this point, almost anything goes in the world of fashion.

There are very few things that could truly shock or disgust me anymore, but that doesn't mean that I'm not going to talk about.

The latest trend to raise eyebrows? Gucci's 'dirty' sneakers.

It's pretty widely accepted that people buy distressed denim on purpose.

It's way less work than buying a nice pair of jeans and creating holes yourself, right?

This seems to be Gucci's mindset as they released their Screener leather sneaker collection.

Why not skip ahead a few steps and sell them looking worn and dirty, before we have a chance to ruin them ourselves!

I can sort of understand the reasoning behind this look.

But for a cool $870 (or $1,025 if you're like me and seeing the Canadian price), I can't help but think that this is a little too much.

The thing is, people really do shell out hundreds of dollars, all in the name of FaShiOn.

This person makes a good point.

I'd gladly dirty up your shoes for a couple of dollars. It'd be my pleasure.

On the bright side, if you're stuck with your dirty old sneakers, you don't need to throw them out!

Congratulations, you've just become fashionable.

The shoes remind us of the $425 "heavily distressed" jeans that Nordstrom was selling.
