4-Year-Old Finally Goes Home For Christmas After Spending Whole Life In Hospital

ryan.ford 24 Dec 2018

Stories like this really put things into perspective. It's one thing to want the latest gizmo or the shiniest bauble under your tree at Christmas, but family is what the season is all about. It's just not the same without everybody together under one roof, around one table — okay, maybe a kids' table and a grown-ups' table.

And for one family, the whole family hasn't been able to be home together at all yet. Their little girl has faced some serious health problems that require round-the-clock care. But their one big Christmas wish is finally coming true.

It's almost hard to believe, but for all four years of little Phalynn Graham's life, she has been in the hospital.

She was born two months prematurely, before her lungs had fully developed, meaning she had to breathe on a ventilator. She has lupus, too, so she has to have dialysis three times a week. But for the first time in her life, she'll be spending Christmas at home with her parents.

Just look at how excited she is!

Her parents were just as overjoyed at the news as Phalynn was. "It's like un-explainable," her mom, Tarvarshay Graham, told KSDK. "I can't even find words."

Phalynn learned to talk in the hospital, learned to walk in the hospital, and until now, never got to spend a Christmas at home.

The only reason she gets to go home is that the family found a nurse who will be able to care for Phalynn during her dialysis appointments.

It's hard to imagine a better gift for this family than being re-united, at home, for Christmas.
