Artist Gives Fresh Twist To Traditional Embroidery By Using Watercolors

Embroidery is neat, I've always been really impressed by it. The patience and dedication it must take to sit and work with a needle and thread on a scale that small is beyond anything I can imagine. Not to mention, the ability to draw and understand how to design in an appealing way is truly amazing.

I always find it interesting when someone takes something that is traditional and changes it a little bit, exploring it in new and different ways. That's exactly what Floor Giebels is doing with her watercolor embroideries.

She recently posted one of her pieces on Reddit and it quickly collected more than 65k points! She also shows her work on her Instagram and sells them through Etsy.

She starts by selecting a canvas and making it into the size and shape that she desires.

And then paints the surface with watercolors, giving them a dreamy, ocean-like appearance.

She will then add just enough detail to take her work from beautiful hues of blue to a full seascape.

Or the home of a beautiful underwater creature. I love them all, what about you?
