15+ Good Ideas That The World Has Room For

Ideas don't always have to be grandiose and completely life-changing. Sometimes small, smart design choices can turn an ordinary item into something unique and special!

To celebrate those smaller, yet still incredible, ideas, here's a whole list of good ones that the world totally has room for.

"Sweet octopus chandelier my buddy made and installed today!"

Those lights look like glowsticks, so this chandelier really looks like an octopus waving a bunch around while partying.

"A black shirt of mine that got a solar tie-dye job after years of being crammed in the back of my car."

Yes, the process takes ages and it's not very involved, but...look how cool this is. I want to do this so bad.

"Bike racks that look like giant paper clips."

I always preferred colorful paperclips over the metal ones. If you have to use something very common and mundane, might as well make it fun! Same goes for bike racks!

"This laptop has a lit-up number pad built into the touch pad."

Now this feels like the future. If I ever saw this I'd think I'd been transported decades into the future, even though touch screens are everywhere already.

"This is a mud shovel. The holes help break suction when digging in mud."

I think the loss of a bit of mud through the holes is a good enough tradeoff for saving my back and other muscles.

"My bottle of honey has an encouraging message for me when I left it flipped over to get the last of it."

It's hard for me to even think about being sad when using honey. There's something just so pleasant about it!

"This train used as a bridge in the middle of nowhere."

A strange, maybe eerie form of recycling, but recycling all the same!

"Inside my dog’s chewed up toy, there’s a message that reads: 'Time to throw me away. All great things come to an end. Bark'."

I appreciate the sentiment, center of dog toy, but if my dog will still play with it, I'm keeping it.

"My zen garden glows and it looks like lava."

When you need to feel zen, but also all-powerful and full of fire magic.

"A grocery cart that attaches to wheelchairs to provide greater independence while shopping."

Seeing the advances being made in accessibility tools really is astounding sometimes! Hopefully these become more common.

"This Homer Simpson escalator."

I already have an irrational fear of being eaten by an escalator. This really doesn't help.

"This knife has the shape of the surrounding mountains."

I don't know anything about the functionality of knives, would this work just like a serrated knife? Or would the pattern make it kind of wonky?

"On the Norwegian Island of Spitsbergen, is the Svalbard Global Seed Vault, which holds almost 1 million seed copies from around the world, just in case of a global catastrophe."

Though the circumstances around it's potential future use is ominous, it's smart to have!

"Downspout with a vertical garden in Seattle."

I'm a big fan of anything that brings more greenery into a city, especially things that might end in wall vines!

"Concrete barrier outside the train station in Malmö, Sweden, is shaped like a train."

Talk about committing to a theme! Not to mention it's just cute in general.

"This bridge in Germany was painted to look like Legos."

Anything that adds a little more whimsy to everyday life is amazing in my book.

"My local library shows how much you’ve saved by checking out their books instead of buying them at a store."

If you needed more motivation to use your local library outside of supporting a quintessential service, here it is!

"Bitter tasting batteries."

I get that babies get into things and you can't always help it, but I think a good solution outside of a bitterant is just putting them high up. Babies have short arms.

"This Bob Ross energy drink."

I feel like Bob Ross' content was always so serene and calm, an energy drink sounds counter-intuitive to his whole brand!

"Someone crocheted around a rock being used as a doorstop in my building so it doesn't slam so loudly."

I'm equally as impressed by this as I am at the thought of someone just scooping up a random rock to use as a door stop.
