Quotes For People Who Only Squat When They Drop Something

Let me just say this right off the bat: I hate exercising.

I, unfortunately, come from a family of people who get overheated way too easily, and who are quick to go red in the face and damp in the brow if they even so much as think about being active. So, suffice it to say, trips to the gym aren't very fun for me.

Thankfully, most facilities usually have mirrors everywhere so I can get a nice 360-degree view of my sweaty, beet-red face while I huff and puff my way through a workout.

Another thing I hate? Eating healthily, because it takes a shocking amount of willpower that I'm not sure I really have.

I've definitely gotten better lately, and I can almost always convince myself to go healthy when my tummy starts rumbling.

But it's not so easy to stay on track when you live with someone who has no interest in eating healthily, and who regularly makes the best nachos you've ever tasted in your entire life.

One way I've found to eat better is to simply not buy any foods I know will be too tempting to keep in my pantry.

Of course, I can run into some problems with that plan, mostly due to the aforementioned person I live with who quite enjoys having a pantry full of tasty snacks.

But for the most part, I do the grocery shopping so I get to decide what we keep in the apartment.

Eating better is only one part of the equation, though.

In order to lead a somewhat healthy lifestyle, you also have to (ugh) exercise. Which for me means dragging myself off the couch, putting on my sneakers and going for a walk around the neighborhood, all the while wishing I was right back on the couch again.

But I think what's really helped me out in the exercise department lately is figuring out what does and does *not* work for me.

For instance, if I'm in the right mood, I quite enjoy walks, especially if I can convince my boyfriend to go with me. And I also like following online workouts, especially if they're free. But I hate running and will avoid it at all cost.

That being said, even if I'm not running, I definitely still have days where I have to force myself to put on my gym clothes or else I would probably never work out.

(Pro tip: once you have the actual clothes on, it's harder to convince yourself to sit back down on the couch again.)
