Alicia Silverstone Faces Backlash After Admitting She Takes Baths With Her 9-Year-Old Son

Alicia Silverstone is known for her rather eclectic parenting style. Remember when she told us she fed her son Bear Blu like a baby bird? Alicia faced backlash at the time for feeding her son vegan masticated morsels, and is now coming under fire once again for telling the New York Times that she and her 9-year-old son have been taking baths together.

Okay sorry, back to that baby bird thing. I feel like we didn't process it properly back in 2011.

Alicia posted the video of her then 11-month-old son Bear eating her pre-chewed food onto her website.

It was a BONKAS time for the world and for Alicia.

However, this was far from the last time Alicia would be critiqued for her parenting methods.

Alicia has raised her son Bear on a vegan diet, which has conflicting studies but, ultimately, he appears to be happy and healthy!

However, people get *very* divided on Alicia's parenting choices and claims.

The actress has famously said her son is so calm and well-behaved thanks to his vegan diet.

"A lot of it is the parenting, but a lot of it is the food," the Clueless actress claimed.

"When your kid feels good, they act well."

She also came under fire for saying Bear has never had a drop of medicine.

"He’s never had to take medicine in his life," she once told Page Six.

"Two times in his life has he been like 'Mommy, I don’t feel good,' and it was only for a few hours and he was back running around."

Naturally, these sentiments were taken as anti-vaxx.

Alicia has been a proud vegan since she was 21.

The actress has published multiple books on the subject and advocates for the movement regularly as part of her personal and professional life.

In her latest *New York Times* interview, Alicia revealed her veganism is in part for her love of animals, particularly her rescue Rottweiler mix, Sampson.

"I realized that when I was petting his leg, that leg felt the same as the sort of chicken breasts I might be eating, or whatever animal I was eating," she told the publication.

"And I started to wonder what my leg might taste like if somebody ate it."

"I’ve had these amazing experiences where people on the street say, ‘I had lupus, I suffer from MS, I have chronic migraines.'"

She continued: "Or even, ‘I had a really bad heart, I was on heart medication.’ Or ‘I had thyroid medication.’"

"All these things that people, then, with their doctor, end up not needing anymore because they changed their diets."

The conversation moved to her quarantine activities with her son, Bear.

"My son and I take baths together, and when he’s not with me, I take a bath and that really feels nourishing and comforting," she explained.

Alicia casually saying she takes baths with her son has caused a lot of controversy on Twitter.

"This is sick, really sick. Can anyone imagine a GROWN MAN saying he's taking baths with his nine year old DAUGHTER & NOT getting an immediate visit from Police Officers & 'Child Care Services'?!? This woman is horrible & sick in the head," wrote one Twitter user.

A lot of people were confused as to why the actress even shared this information in the first place.

"Hey, you do you. But why do you make this info public? Even if you think it’s fine, why do we care?" expressed another user.
