If you're considering getting a pet for yourself or your family, then you should definitely consider adopting a pet.
There are countless cats and dogs out there in shelters across the country who are desperately in need of loving families to care for them.
Benny was a resident of the Carson Animal Care Center in Gardena, California.
Carson Animal Care Center is a shelter that was founded in 1961, and it is also described as a "high-kill" shelter, according to The Dodo.
For a long time, the fate of this shy but lovable pooch had looked very grim.
However, the 8-month-old pit bull managed to win over one specific family who visited the shelter and ultimately decided to adopt him.
"This special little guy captured the hearts of everyone who stopped by his kennel," the shelter's staff wrote on Facebook.
"He hit the jackpot when this beautiful family chose to take him home," the shelter's Facebook page continued.
That comes after Benny's initial trepidation, during which he lurks uneasily at the back of his cage.
However, when Benny is put in a leash and taken out to his new family, Benny begins wagging his tail furiously and bouncing for joy.
When he is taken out into the outside world, Benny continuously jumps for joy and runs laps around his new owners.
After the short restroom break, Benny happily waits to get into his new family's car so that he can be taken to his new forever home.
The video of Benny's "Freedom Walk" has since been watched over 6 million times on Facebook and over 2 million times on YouTube. The video has received a plethora of loving comments including the likes of:
"Thank you for sharing this. It was a wonderful moment. Benny was very happy to get a new family. And I’m sure he’s a great addition to your family."
"Thank u for sharing such a happy story god bless your family may u all enjoy the happy days ahead with your new pup."
If you're thinking of getting a family pet, then you should really consider adoption. There are, "approximately 6.5 million companion animals [that] enter U.S. animal shelters nationwide every year," according to the ASPCA.
Adopting a pet is not only a rewarding experience, but it will bring more love and joy into your life.
