In case you didn't know, Halsey just released her new album, "Manic"!

It's the third full-length album for the singer who first came upon the scene in 2015 with her head-boppin' singles, "Ghost" and "Bad at Love."
Since then, she's come such a long way with major wins at the AMAs and the Billboard awards.
She's even collaborated with some of the biggest stars out there, including Khalid and The Chainsmokers.
"Manic" is considered the singer's (real name: Ashley Nicolette Frangipane) most intimate album to date.

Featuring six singles that are already out and 10 original tracks, the album shows a more vulnerable side to the 25-year-old singer.
Similar to previous albums, "Badlands" and "Hopeless Fountain Kingdom," she collaborated on some tracks with some of music's heavyweights.

This impressive list includes Canadian pop star Alanis Morissette, Suga from BTS, and Chad Smith from Red Hot Chili Peppers.
There's even a surprise appearance in one of the songs by her good friend John Mayer!
Halsey is clearly proud of the album. During an Instagram Live in December, she told fans:

“I feel like you guys have really given me the chance this year to express myself more and be myself in a way that I don’t know.”
But not everyone is digging her new music...
Pitchfork for example, shared a negative review for the album, rating it 6.5 stars out of 10.
Which, everyone is technically entitled to their own opinion, right?
The review said that while "Manic's" songs have "compelling" moments, they are "overpowered by the tedium of modern pop."

Contributing Editor Rawiya Kameir even referred to it as the "amorphous, chameleonic pop I’ve come to associate with sitting miserably in the backseat of a Lyft."
Yikes.
Poor Halsey. She has a tendency to end up in the news because of her Twitter.
But this is where things got reallllllyy awkward.
Halsey saw the review and decided to leave a snarky response herself by tweeting this:

What Halsey didn't realize when she hit send, though, is that Pitchfork is located inside the One World Trade Center in New York City.
This is the skyscraper that was built after the Twin Towers collapsed from a terrorist attack on September 11.
Because of this, Halsey's joke immediately didn't sit well with fans.
"Pitchfork: the album is good, not great
Halsey: they should have another 9/11," another tweeted.
Some, on the other hand, saw humor in the whole situation:
It prompted this fan to bring up the fact that Halsey is set to perform on this week's episode of SNL:
"Halsey accidentally saying she wants the One World Trade Center to collapse just days before she’s on SNL is just chefs kiss."
Soon after the singer realized her mistake, she immediately deleted her tweet and issued out an apology.

"ABSOLUTELY deleted it upon realizing this," she wrote. "Was just trying to make a joke! Intended zero harm."
"Just figured I could poke at them back with the same aloof passive aggression they poke at artists with!"

She concluded her tweet with this: "Clearly a misunderstanding," along with a heart.
Later, she tweeted out a message for those publications that were trying to say that she was *actually* calling for another 9/11.
They had to be total manics (get it?) to think that she was implying that.
In the end, some good came out of this situation. Halsey likely learned a very important lesson: don't joke about buildings collapsing.
