Jessica Simpson Admits She Gave Up Drinking After She Couldn't Dress Her Kids For Halloween

"I have been waiting for so long to share some exciting news...I will be releasing my first book on February 4th with @harpercollinsus. I have been working so hard on it - I have opened my heart up in a way I never have before and now I can’t wait to share it with the world," she wrote.

She revealed on Instagram that even though she's only 39, she feels like she has a lifetime's worth of knowledge and stories to share.

"A lot of people are asking me how I can write a memoir at the age of 39 and I completely thought the very same thing until I started to put all of my journals that I’ve kept since the age of 15 together."

She continued, "I’ve been very private about most of the hardest moments over the last 15 years. I am finally ready to share my story and life again with an open and honest heart like an Open Book..."

"I have never been more proud of something on a professional and personal combination in my life. It took courage to do this and I can’t wait to be best friends with all of y’all through this phase."

Jessica admitted on Insta that recording the audiobook was an emotionally exhausting process.

"Recording the audiobook of Open Book was one of the most purposeful experiences of my career. It broke me down both physically and emotionally, but I hope everyone who listens will feel my soul and hear my truth through my voice.

"The new songs I am releasing with the audiobook are what inspired me to write the memoir and they are the musical counterpart to the story. I am so proud of this creation. I hope you love it."

One of the stories Jessica has shared is when she hit "rock bottom" on Halloween in 2017.

Jessica revealed to People that she had started drinking at 7:30 in the morning that day.

She explained that while her team was getting her ready in her Willie Nelson costume for the family's Halloween party that night, she felt herself "zoning out."

"I was terrified of letting them see me in that shape," Jessica said of her kids.

“I am ashamed to say that I don’t know who got them into their costumes that night," she continued.

"I slept in, afraid to see them, afraid I had failed them. I hid until they left, then drank."

A few days later, Jessica gathered her close circle of friends and told them: “I need to stop. Something’s got to stop. And if it’s alcohol that’s doing this and making things worse, then I quit.”

"There’s no better gift I can give my kids, there’s no better gift I can give my husband. More importantly, there’s no better gift I can give myself," she concluded.

We're so proud of Jessica for being vulnerable and sharing her truth.
