He once played for the Ottawa Senators, Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs and during the 2017–18 NHL season, he played for the Los Angeles Kings.

Julianne and Brooks began dating in 2014, and were engaged the following year.

On July 8th, 2017, the pair officially tied the knot!

Anyway, you may remember that last summer, in an interview with Women's Health, Julianne Hough opened up about her sexuality.

It may have been assumed that she was straight, as she is married to a man. But she made it abundantly clear that she is not.

She revealed that 2019 was the start of what she called a “massive transformation.”

In a nutshell, she explained that she has never been a more genuine version of herself than she is now.

“The minute that happened, everything shifted for me,” she recalled.

"Experience the world how we’re supposed to experience it—in its most pure form, which I believe is love.”

She went on, adding that her husband, Brooks Laich, has had to become reacquainted with the new Julianne.

“I was connecting to the woman inside that doesn’t need anything, versus the little girl that looked to him to protect me,” she said.

"But the more I dropped into my most authentic self, the more attracted he was to me."

She explained that since she has begun to feel like her truest self, it has actually brought her and her husband closer together.

"Now we have a more intimate relationship," she said.

And with that new-found intimacy, Julianne felt it was time to open up to her husband about the realities of her sexuality, that she had never shared with him before.

“I [told him], ‘You know I’m not straight, right?’ And he was like, ‘I’m sorry, what?,'" she said.

"I was like, ‘I’m not. But I choose to be with you.'"

“I think there’s a safety with my husband now that I’m unpacking all of this," she continued.

"There’s no fear of voicing things that I’ve been afraid to admit or that I’ve had shame or guilt about because of what I’ve been told or how I was raised.”

And it looks like Julianne's personal progress has rubbed off on her husband, because he recently disclosed that he plans to get to know more about his own sexuality in the coming year.

He shared a post on Instagram along with a lengthy caption, outlining his reflection on the past year.

"As the new year inches closer, I’m doing some reflecting, and some looking ahead," he wrote.

"I’m always working on becoming a better man, a better version of me."

"Knowing where I am, and where I want to go, are equally important," he continued.

"So I share these words for anyone else out there on a similar journey ahead of the new year."

"It’s a new decade coming, a new sense of hope and opportunity - and a chance to step into an improved version of you."

"You must believe you are, before you can become."

"Once the belief is set, the path reveals itself."

"So, much love to all of you taking the time to pour love into yourself, and striving for betterment - I’m with you all the way, and wish you all the best!!," he concluded.

He then took to his Instagram story, reiterating his plan to evolve in 2020, and confessing that he'd like to learn more about "intimacy" and his sexuality.

On top of that, he'd like to travel, have more time to himself, and be more present in his relationships; all excellent new year's resolutions!

Hopefully 2020 brings Brooks everything he is working toward!
