Sarah Huckabee Sanders Mocks Joe Biden’s Stutter And Faces Twitter Backlash

The events of the most recent Democratic debate have sparked yet another controversy, though not by the fault of any Democrats themselves.

After viewers of the debate heard a stammer in Joe Biden's voice when he tried to make a particular argument, former White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders took it upon herself to Tweet about Biden in a less-than-respectful manner.

During the debate, Huckabee Sanders wrote a now deleted tweet making fun of Biden's stutter.

"IIIIIIII hhhhhave absolutely no idea what Biden is talking about," she writes, very obviously trying to emulate the repetitive sounds of someone who speaks with a stutter.

About ten minutes after the Tweet, she began to backtrack in attempt to avoid a wave of criticism online.

"To be clear was not trying to make fun of anyone with a speech impediment," her follow-up tweet reads, "Simply pointing out I can't follow much of anything Biden is talking about."

However, the damage had already been done, and Twitter users began to send a barrage of responses her way.

Eventually, even Biden himself responded.

"I've worked my whole life to overcome a stutter," he wrote, "And it's my great honor to mentor kids who have experienced the same. It's called empathy. Look it up."

Earlier in the campaign, Biden sat down with The Atlantic to discuss his life-long battle with his speech impediment, and how such a challenge has shaped him into the man he is today.

Finally, Huckabee Sanders responded with an apology.

"I actually didn't know that about you and that is commendable," she wrote, "I apologize and should have made my point respectfully."

What do you think of Huckabee Sanders' comments and subsequent apology?

When political arguments shift their focus from critiquing policy to poking fun at people's personal battles, it really makes you wonder what kind of people we want in the highest office of the land. Just a thought.
