There are plenty of jokes about how cats don't care at all about what happens to humans, but here's a video that shows how wrong those assumptions just might be.
There are plenty of jokes about how cats don't care at all about what happens to humans, but here's a video that shows how wrong those assumptions just might be.
It appears to be from a home security system and was shared on the Fundación Gatos Bogotanos en Adopción (GABA) Facebook group.
They interact with a cat that's perched on the couch and then begins to crawl towards the bottom of the frame.
It even lingers, as though making sure that the kid won't try to go that way again.
The cat's intensity can easily be mistaken for an angry attack. It flails and hits the child with its paws.
You can see the open door in the video, but not that it opens directly to a set of narrow stairs.
The stairs are all tiled and presumably, the darkness at the base of the stairs doesn't hide a cushion.
But whether it understood the danger and acted or it was just a timely freak out, it prevented an accident.
Not all heroes wear capes. Sometimes, they're just very quick kitties.
At no point in the video is another human seen, not even a distracted parent rushing over to see what the commotion was about.
Why is a toddler outside their crib or playpen at such an early time without supervision, and with a stairwell door open, too?
We'll likely never learn the whole story here, but what we do know is that the cat did good and hopefully, the child won't be in danger like this again.
