20+ Things That Change Perspectives

The second edition of the Oxford English Dictionary contains full entries for more than 218,000 words, but that won't do you a lick bit of good if you're so gobsmacked, puzzled or put off by something you can't utter a single word. You can always fall back on vague phrases with multiple meanings like "cool" or "nice," but sometimes the words just won't come.

1. "I have to name my first born what? Well, I guess that's OK. I really need this app to build my digital brand"

Reddit | pp0787

You knew you were skipping the fine print when you checked that terms and conditions box on that new app, but did you have any idea how much fine print there actually was?

2. It's true, people really used to look and dress like that

Reddit | jamesornames312

There are just so many gems in this picture of a mall from 1989. The teased, platinum hair. The short-shorts and 'stache on that dude. And Tape World! Probably located right next to 8-Track Town.

3. You're not paranoid. They really are listening. Probably watching, too.

Reddit | Paroxysmal_Blue

The only positive is you're too groggy to say much of anything before you've had a few cups of coffee so they've only heard profane mutterings about how every morning feels like a Monday.

4. All this picture needs is Godzilla rising from the deep

Reddit | OblvThorns

This picture of a 65-foot tall "Lava Bubble" was snapped in Hawaii some 50 years ago. Look at that lava pop and simmer on the surface of the ocean. Incredible. This occurred in 1969 during the eruption of the Kilauea Volcano.

5. This black sand beach in Iceland is beautiful and eerie

Reddit | Gar1986

The Reynisfjara beach on Iceland's south coast was created by lava flowing into the ocean and cooling immediately upon contacting the water. It was voted by National Geographic as one of the Top 10 non-tropical beaches to visit on the planet.

6. This guy must really like cats — and long, lonely nights of celibacy

Reddit | Samwiseii

He's all in on this bizarre look, and things would look a little off even if he was wearing a turtle neck. We can applaud his passion, I suppose, without endorsing his sense of style.

7. These ice caves in Iceland look like rolling waves

Reddit | ToughAssist

They're absolutely stunning and the blue color is incredible — though honestly, we're not entirely sure where this climber plans on going.

8. These seamen taking a dip outside this massive navy ship

Reddit | Reddit

This pic shows how massive those vessels really are. I had no idea they could access the water like that. Like the biggest pontoon party boat on the planet.

9. "Well, you don't know what we can find, why don't you come with me little girl, on a magic carpet ride"

Reddit | Palana

This melting carpet art brings to mind the lyrics from a famous Steppenwolf song. This piece by Faig Ahmed is housed at the Palm Springs Art Museum.

10. They need to play the Jaws theme instead of elevator music

Reddit | suckfail

If you slip and fall on this wet floor, you will be eaten by a shark. It says so right there on the sign. So be careful while also nodding your head approvingly at the creativity of that warning marker.

11. "Dogs wearing pants" is a popular meme on the web but this is the first time we've seen pants coordinated with the owner

Reddit | SambaMarqs

They are definitely some flashy trunks, and that doggo wears them well — but it's probably a bit too much to wear the same swim trunks as your pooch.

12. You're taking a flyer if you don't upgrade to business class

Reddit | DrStemCellResearcher

Airplanes are cramped enough as it is when they're filled with people of average size. But things can really get crowded when you toss an outlier into the mix, like strongman competitor Eddie Hall.

13. Night of the Living Dead Raccoons

Reddit | Deplorable_17

A woman heard a noise outside her tent 30 years ago and stuck her disposable camera out to snap a pic. When it was developed weeks later, she saw this. Good thing it wasn't a Polaroid, or they might have cut that camping trip short.

14. "Transformers, more than meets the eye. Transformers, robots in disguise."

Reddit | julieeea

This manhole cover in Germany looks like a character in a Transformers movie that opens in times of trouble and sends out waves of troops to save the day.

15. This water is so clear it looks like this boat is floating on air

Reddit | julieeea

What a beautiful pic. This is Blue Lake in Nelson Lakes National Park in New Zealand. It's the clearest natural body of water in the world, with visibility ranging as high as 260 feet.

16.  "Tyger Tyger burning bright, In the forests of the night: What immortal hand or eye, Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?"

Reddit | RealmDevourer

Most school kids have been exposed to those lines by English poet William Blake, which almost seem like they were written for this incredible pic.

17. These kids got to go to Toys “R” Us for the oldest one’s birthday.

Reddit | Passwordis_Taco

They must not have known or simply forgot that the store was closing. Hopefully they found another toy store!

18. I’ve always known that chimpanzees are incredibly strong, but this hairless chimp lets us see just how muscular they are.

Reddit | rovli

Nothing could be more terrifying than this guy chasing after you. You wouldn’t stand a chance.

19. If this painting was full size, I’d be impressed, but this just took things to the next level.

Reddit | KruegerKDK

The detail is so incredible! I wonder how long something like this would take. Even though it’s so tiny, I feel like there would be more work involved.

20. As if the Leaning Tower of Pisa couldn’t get any more amazing, this is a photo of the stairs inside of it.

Imgur | Imgur

The worn down stairs are a results of 500 years of people walking up and down them.

21. This is a drawing done entirely in pencil that was made for an art show.

Reddit | Miles___

It must have taken hours to make sure all the faces looked like they were of the same girl.

22. If you thought you loved board games, especially Monopoly, you have nothing on this girl.

Reddit | erl_queen

But they’re actually flowers for people who have been sentenced to death. No words.

Reddit | DrrsLy

I can’t imagine how loud it would be or how dangerous, but it makes for an incredibly beautiful sight!
