Courteney Cox Posted An Unseen Photo Of The 'Friends' Cast With An Emotional Story Behind It

Anyone who is a fan of Friends loves a good throwback. It's the only way we get to relive the good old days — the '90s.

So, no one told you life was gonna be this way.

Your job's a joke, you're broke, your love life's DOA.

But at least Courteney Cox is out here throwing some major nostalgic vibes our way — like this recent photo of her and her gal pal, Rachel Green.

Like when she posted this throwback of her and Lisa Kudrow at the beach.

Maybe this was taken while they were filming the episode "The One At The Beach".

Courteney was kind of queen of the 90's.

Which she proved by also sharing this throwback pic of her and Jim Carrey on the set of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.

She also posted this recent shot of her, Lisa Kudrow, and Ellen Degeneres sitting on the famous orange, Central Perk couch.

Ellen was probably screaming internally.

I would be.

She recently posted a photo of her teenage daughter falling asleep watching "Friends".

I love the fact that her daughter watches the show. It's like the torch is being handed down.

This is so precious. I can't.

But just yesterday, Courteney shared this never before seen photo of the "Friends" gang, and it's iconic.

"The one where the six of us went to Vegas and no one knew we were F.R.I.E.N.D.S yet," she captioned it.

The photo actually has a really great story behind it.

According to Vanity Fair, this was just after the cast filmed the very first episode of the series, but before it ever aired on television.

It was like an ice breaker session.

The show's director, James Burrows, took the cast on a Vegas trip so that everyone could get to know each other a little better.

On the trip, James basically let them know that they were about to be famous AF.

"I had me and six of them [on the trip]," James recalled. "And I said — I don’t know why I said this — I said, 'This is your last shot at anonymity.'"

"'Once the show comes on the air, you guys will never be able to go anywhere without being hounded,'” he told them.

And that could not have been more true. Still to this day.

"I knew the show had a chance to really take off," he added.

James then explained that he took the six of them out for a fancy dinner at Caesar's Palace, and then sent them off to the casino to bond.

One fan joked that there's something wrong with the left phalange. If you know, you know.

I hate having to explain jokes to people because it makes it way less funny. But for those of you whose heads this just flew (pun intended) over...

Maybe there was some inspiration there for when 'Friends' went to Vegas later on.

Although I doubt any of the cast got drunkenly married while they were there. Then again, it was the 90's, so who knows what kind of wild things they were getting up to...

"So I did that and then I said, 'Do you want to gamble?' and they said, 'Yes.' I said, 'Okay, go ahead,'" he said.

"And all six of them didn‘t have any money so they each wrote me checks for $200 and I cashed them. And that was it."

"They came back and premiered and they don‘t have a shot of anonymity anymore."

Netflix

Ain't that the truth.

The six of them not only gave up their anonymity and became famous, they made TV history.

There is virtually nobody that doesn't at least recognize the cast of "Friends".

Netflix

The show is an everlasting staple in pop culture — it paved the way for every other sitcom to follow it.

List Item #16

This is in reference to the very last episode of Friends, when Phoebe manages to delay Rachel's flight to Paris by calling her and telling her the left phalange was broken.

Anyways, that's the story behind this never before seen throwback.

Just six young actors on a private jet for the first time, unknowingly about to make history.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to re-watch the entire "Friends" series from beginning to end for the 10 millionth time.

It never gets old.
