For the first time since being fired, James Gunn has spoken about the situation.

Disney got rid of Gunn once people started pulling receipts of old tweets from the director online.
Suddenly Guardians of the Galaxy didn't have a director.
When he was fired, he got hired for DC.

He got signed to direct Suicide Squad.
But a few months later, Disney wanted him back for Guardians of the Galaxy 3.
Gunn finally spoke out about the controversy surrounding him.

"I feel and have felt bad for a while about some of the ways I spoke publicly," he said.
But a lot of people really didn't see his jokes as very funny at all, and still haven't forgiven him.
"Disney totally had the right to fire me. This wasn’t a free speech issue." he continued.
