These Men Defied All Gender Norms and Absolutely Slayed At The 2019 Met Gala

Gone are the days when the ladies wear gowns and the men all wear black tuxedos.

It's all about defying gender norms and wearing whatever you please.

At least, that's the theme that's reigning supreme at this year's Met Gala.

Not many men have graced red carpet appearances in anything but some sort of suit. But that changed when Billy Porter wore a gown to this year's Oscars.

It's a mix of traditional masculine and feminine formal attire, combining a formal tux with a large and in charge skirt fit for a princess.

For the Vanity Fair Oscars Party after the awards show, he swapped his bow for a diamond necklace.

His Oscars outfit definitely caught people's attention.

Before the Oscars, he had also turned up at the Golden Globe Awards in a lavish pink cape.

It's safe to say that Billy Porter has set trends for all red carpets to come.

In a Tweet he called it "Old Testament Realness," and boy did he ever serve it!

Wearing a head-to-toe gold ensemble and being carried in by a group of strong, husky men wearing eyeshadow? I LIVE!

The host for the Gala tonight set the tone by wearing a black ruffled blouse and one pearl earring.

Slay.

Ryan Murphy slayed us all in his tribute to Liberace.

The American Horror Story creator stunned us all when he came through drippin' in 100 lbs of pearls for the Met Gala tonight.

Who needs a boring black tux when you can wear this?!

Actor Darren Criss added a giant bow and a bejeweled pop against the velvety pink carpet.

He even matched his nail color to his smoked out blue eyeshadow. I love it.

Michael Urie followed Billy Porter's Oscars example, but vamped it up a bit.

He truly mixed traditional notions of feminine and masculine here! So creative.

I think it's hard to top this performance of camp.

Cody Fern sported vintage finger waves, a popular hairstyle for women in the 1920s and 30s.

And check out those ah-mazing patent leather electric blue cowboy boots.

Now this is a strong look.

Ru Paul still kept his spicy fire style all while wearing a suit.

Along with the neon zebra striped suit, he sported a 30" ostrich fringe.

This outfit is sickening, to say the least.

As a fashion journalist, you better not play around when it comes to walking the red carpet.

And British fashion journalist Hamish Bowles validated his expertise.

This giant furry cape adorned with pink poodles is everything.

Tommy Hilfiger wore the most fun sparkly platform booties I ever did see.

And quite honestly, I need them now.

He even adorned his suit with glittery silver stars to match his boots!

Last, but certainly not least, we have Jared Leto and his own head.

Jared wore a long red dress embellished with diamonds all across the neckline and bodice.

And his accessorized head is just a bonus.

Who do you think killed the Met Gala?

I am living for these gender-defying looks that I've been seeing at the met Gala tonight and hopefully this sets the tone for many red carpets to come.
