The first Monday in May is just 2 days away and that means it's almost time for the biggest night in fashion.
Every year, A-list celebrities and designers attend the Met Costume Gala in their finest (and wildest) attire and shmooze the night away.
However there are some rules celebs must follow if they want in on the action.
The editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine is also the one who orchestrates the massive charity event.
To ensure that the night goes off without a hitch, Anna has a list of rules that must be in place.
She even has rules, some unspoken, for the celebrities to follow. But that doesn't stop them from breaking them.
It's a known fact that when a theme is set for the Costume Institute exhibit, guests are expected to dress for the gala according to that theme.
While most people do a good job of following this rule (ahem, Queen RiRi and SJP), there have been a few who just weren't feeling it and wore whatever they wanted.
When Kylie attended the 2018 Met gala, the theme for the year was Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.
She decided to pass on the theme entirely and instead wore a sleek black Alexander Wang gown and a pair of bedazzled sunglasses.
This is a big one.
Back in 2015, celebrities and guests were informed that there would be a strict no cellphones and social media policy at the event. This is because they found that people were spending too much time staring at their phones all night.
The costume institute hasn't had much luck keeping celebrities off of their phones over the years — but, hey, all publicity is good publicity! Right, Anna?
Ariana Grande, Kim Kardashian, P Diddy, Eva Chen and more have all been caught posting Instagram selfies and photos from the event with all of their famous friends.
It may seem as though this should go without saying, but when it comes to the rule-breaking elite, you can never be too safe.
It's just that a lot of celebrities must think the rules or laws don't apply to them. Because FYI, smoking indoors at offices, theaters and more has been banned in New York City since 2003.
Okay so Dakota and gang aren't technically** rule breakers for the gala but more so the reason why the rule was established in the first place.
**Strong emphasis on technically because it may not have been laid out for the gala but it was definitely illegal in the city of New York.
Dakota, Bella Hadid and more caused a stir, and upset board members and donors by smoking in the Museum's bathrooms last year.
Now this year, smoking will be strictly banned from the event.
This is less of a rule and more of an unspoken understanding that falls under the very formal dress code in place for the gala.
Celebrities like Elle Macpherson and Shalom Harlow had no problem rebelling against the status quo and strutted up the steps in their comfiest flats.
Honestly, this is a rule I would totally break because comfy shoes are life.
Starlet, dancer, and Sia stand-in Maddie Ziegler surprised people last year when she wasn't invited to the Met Gala because she wasn't old enough yet. Gala organizers confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that "it's not an appropriate event for people under 18."
While the Smith kids are both old enough to attend this year, they've been frequent guests in the past when they didn't quite hit the requirement. Maybe an exception was made if you went with your parents?
Will Kylie adhere to this year's Camp! theme? Will the celebrities be able to stay off Instagram for one night? Will anyone get caught smoking again in the bathroom?
Who knows? But we can't wait to find out.
